Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our eye tests, services, branches and eyewear.

Eye Tests

Yes, completely free. Our comprehensive eye test is offered at no charge at all 6 Dubai Opticals branches in Ras Al Khaimah. There are no hidden fees or purchase obligations.

Our comprehensive digital eye test takes approximately 20 minutes. Walk-ins are welcome so you can visit any time during opening hours without an appointment.

No appointment is necessary — walk-ins are always welcome. However, booking in advance can help reduce waiting times during busy periods. You can book via our website or by WhatsApp.

We use advanced digital refraction systems and retinal imaging equipment. Our computerized equipment ensures precise, repeatable results far more accurate than traditional manual testing methods.

Driving License Eye Test

Yes. Dubai Opticals is officially approved by RAKTA (Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority). Our driving license eye test certificates are accepted by all RAK traffic authorities and licensing departments.

Just 5 minutes. No appointment is needed. Walk in to any of our branches and we'll have your certificate ready quickly so you can proceed with your driving license application or renewal.

Just bring your Emirates ID or passport. If you normally wear glasses or contact lenses, please wear them to the test. We issue the certificate on the spot immediately after the test.

Eyewear & Lenses

In most cases, yes. Standard single-vision prescriptions are typically ready same day. Complex prescriptions such as high-power or progressive lenses may take 1–3 working days.

Yes, we stock a full range of toric contact lenses for astigmatism from leading brands. Our optometrists can advise on the best lens type for your specific prescription and lifestyle.

We carry a wide range including Ray-Ban, Oakley, Gucci, Prada, Versace, Tom Ford, Carrera, Police, Emporio Armani, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein and many more. All sunglasses carry UV400 protection.

Yes, we can fulfil prescriptions from other opticians. If your prescription is over 12 months old, we recommend a fresh eye test for safety — which is free with us anyway.

Kids' Eye Care

We can test children from the age of 3. Early eye tests are important for detecting lazy eye (amblyopia), squints and refractive errors that can affect development if untreated.

Children should have an eye test every 12 months, or more frequently if advised by our optometrist. Vision changes quickly during childhood, so regular checks are important for academic performance and development.
